June is Here!

So the month of june is here. Its the month where i want to get my comic, 4AM finished and printed...maybe. Which is scary since a few weeks ago i did a revised version of the pages left to do and a proper count up of the book and it came to exactly 100 pages. Which would be neat if it wasn't so daunting! It's 50 double spreads including all the end papers and title pages. I have been saying 40 all this time!
But it's going...okay....just can't wait for it to be done. Will be such an achievement!

Anyway, last week saw the final year show at my uni. The private view was on the friday and it was a really great night! I took some pictures during the week of the illustration exhibition. I think it looks really good considering it's our first year in this space. Our tutors worked really hard to get what is actually our desk covered studio space looking like this. I painted some of the boards and helped hang some things! but yeah...
The picture on the left below is my space :)

At the moment i'm looking into printing and framing for the painting below. It's for an exhibition happening in Israel (yeah exciting!) that me, 2 other students and my tutor (who got us into it) are taking part in with the theme 'Regular'. I'll write a bit more about it next time, but this is my entry entitled 'Hidden'.
June is also the month in which at the end of it i have to be out of my uni house. I'm going to miss 71, it's been a mad adventure with some classic moments :) This is a picture of our coffee table that i had to take. The sight made me laugh a lot as i was greeted by it in the morning. I think it sums our house up quite well...

Lots of doodling of characters has taken place lately. I want to tell more stories with them.

I also saw the new Wes Anderson film, Moonrise Kingdom on wednesday. I really enjoyed it and want to see it again! So pretty and lovely. I love his characters.

Both my laptop and external monitor have pictures i took of the sky at the moment. It makes me happy. I love clouds.

Thanks for reading! Have a Great bank holiday weekend britain, and an equally great weekend everywhere else :)

Bookmarks and the long time coming line up...

Woooo what a busy few weeks!
2000 Trees Festival was amazing as usual. Such a good break having nothing to worry about doing but listen to music and drink cider from half 9 AM in a field :D (Also nothing like passing out in a tent at the end. Whoops!)
Lots of lovely new music discovered and now the post festival blues are gone it's back. To. Work. Or rather start it!
Anyways i'm here with bookmarks i made from some drawings of mine a while ago, and i'm rather proud of them! i think i did a good job on the packaging. It was fun to do!
Take a look....

They are for sale for £1.50 plus shipping (free UK shipping). Drop me a line if you are interested!

Another thing i've finally got round to doing is starting this so called epic lineup of characters of mine...
It's gonna take FOREVER because i've decided i'm not gonna settle for 'meh, that'll do'. This is it. It's the real deal and i'm gonna frame it about my desk when i'm done. hahahahah.

I've also written (badly at the mo) proper bio's for each character that i will be releasing with it. (it's not a major achievement, i actually wrote it for a friend but i have realised it's quite useful) Since my final major project next uni year is gonna centre round these guys i figured it was about time i hauled it all together! Here is the sketch, before colour, of Pip (please ignore the fact she has no iris' or pupils yet, spooky, i know)...
I also did this quick test of Alex (it's not for the line up). To test traditional colouring vs simple colours applied in Photoshop.

TRADITIONAL

Comments on this are appreciated! Ignoring the background colour which do do you guys prefer?
I think both have their plus'/minus' :)

Thanks for reading!

I'll be back soon with sketchs from the wildlife park i went to with 'Whatnot' friends today :D

York Art Jams

Hi!

Just got back yesterday evening from a week spent up in lovely York with my lovely friend who goes to university there. Great week of creativeness and random moving out shopping (I own a red frying pan now! ♥) I didn't do much sketching but the exciting news is there is now a craft shop in the famous York Shambles selling my stuff! My friend told the shop owners about me so i took along a much as i could fit in my suitcase, which wasn't very much! The owners were so friendly and bought some stock off me to sell on. It was really surprising and unexpected.
The great thing is they seem keen for more and i'm getting on to sorting out more stock as soon as i can. It's really exciting and brilliant to be selling in such a pretty and well visited location!

Have a look!...

And here are some of the sketchs i managed, from York Campus and also of Leeds Campus which we visited on the saturday before coming home...

And two of the quick drawings i did while i was there...

Okay Dokie!
I'm off to tidy away the items from my suitcase and make some CRAFTS!
