Casual Jazz, Pie and Classy Comics.

Hi Hi,

Just a casual blog post mainly about a few days in London with friends last week :) The theme, it was decided, was of casual Jazz and Pie and included pilgrimages. For me my pilgrimage was to the headquarters of the wondrous NoBrow in Hackney. I love what they do and own a lot of their stuff hehe. Basically it's all lovely printed short comic's and prints and stuff if you didn't know. The other main pilgrimage was a mad rampage then across london to find...pie. Not just any old pie, Pieminister Pie! We fell in love with it both years we were at the 2000 Trees Festival where they have a stand each year, so we wanted to find the actual shop. It was on the Southbank by the Thames and it was lovely :)
We then stayed on the Southbank, but down by the Eye for a few hours watching the street performers and i did some sketchs...

The casual Jazz i mentioned was due to the exhibition was went to on the first night, at the portrait gallery. It was open till 9PM for 'the late shift' and it was too cool for school with jazz and champagne. The exhibition was the BP Portrait Award 2011 and was absolutely brilliant! I really recommend it if your about the place! Crazy skills on display!

Anywho, here's my sketch before the lines and colour of my most recent drawing up on DeviantArt...
Ickle Alex and Terry. You can see it finished HERE!

...An update on my veg plot... OH MY GOD COURGETTES!!

and my favourite thumbnail from the story i've just finished doing the rough storyboard for...
But i have to go re-join the real world now... I'm earning real money these next three days (dear god), working the Tall Ships festival in Gloucester. Yay money. Hope the sun stays out!
See ya Folks!

Bookmarks and the long time coming line up...

Woooo what a busy few weeks!
2000 Trees Festival was amazing as usual. Such a good break having nothing to worry about doing but listen to music and drink cider from half 9 AM in a field :D (Also nothing like passing out in a tent at the end. Whoops!)
Lots of lovely new music discovered and now the post festival blues are gone it's back. To. Work. Or rather start it!
Anyways i'm here with bookmarks i made from some drawings of mine a while ago, and i'm rather proud of them! i think i did a good job on the packaging. It was fun to do!
Take a look....

They are for sale for £1.50 plus shipping (free UK shipping). Drop me a line if you are interested!

Another thing i've finally got round to doing is starting this so called epic lineup of characters of mine...
It's gonna take FOREVER because i've decided i'm not gonna settle for 'meh, that'll do'. This is it. It's the real deal and i'm gonna frame it about my desk when i'm done. hahahahah.

I've also written (badly at the mo) proper bio's for each character that i will be releasing with it. (it's not a major achievement, i actually wrote it for a friend but i have realised it's quite useful) Since my final major project next uni year is gonna centre round these guys i figured it was about time i hauled it all together! Here is the sketch, before colour, of Pip (please ignore the fact she has no iris' or pupils yet, spooky, i know)...
I also did this quick test of Alex (it's not for the line up). To test traditional colouring vs simple colours applied in Photoshop.

TRADITIONAL

Comments on this are appreciated! Ignoring the background colour which do do you guys prefer?
I think both have their plus'/minus' :)

Thanks for reading!

I'll be back soon with sketchs from the wildlife park i went to with 'Whatnot' friends today :D

Montpellier Midsummer Fiesta!

I'm Back!

Just a short post with a few photos of the craft fair we did at the weekend just gone...
It was the Midsummer Fiesta in our university's town. I really enjoyed the day despite not making much money and having two really heavy downpours throughout the day! We packed up a 6pm but it went on till 10pm with more bands and with the fun fair. It was a really good laugh and the bands after we were done on the stalls were brill (seen them alllll before :D) It was great that we could stay to enjoy and relax after working there all day.

Shortest distance to carry all our stock to our table ever!!

I thought our stand was the best one we had done yet, sporting our lovely new bunting we all made the day before!

By the time we had the packed away the second heavy rain shower had stopped and the evening was actually quite a lovely one as we sat and enjoyed live bands and pizza :)

Okays, that's all for now. I really need to try finish some of the many items of work i have started!!

Have a brilliant week! and hope it doesn't rain for me, i'll be in a soggy tent in a muddy field otherwise...hahah

Summer Dreaming

Hi! It's been a busy week or so! What with craft fairs and me getting my new houses keys yesterday so i'm a tad excited. I'm also am off to a field this weekend for the local and spectacular 2000 Trees Festival! It's gonna be ace!
That aside, In my last post i mentioned a picnic me and my sis went on...so i thought id upload some of the sketchs i did. It was really lovely. I'm such a country bumpkin me :)

And such a lovely location and nice walk 10 minutes from our house...

I also took a pic yesterday of the crops down the lane next to our home where we walk our dogs. They really have gone such a beautiful colour i really wanted to capture it. I'm thinking of doing a picture with the colour scheme! haha.

And continuing along the country life theme, have a look at how my veg plot is doing :) Beetroots in no time!

Anyway, sorry for all the country side stuff! I'll be back with a bit on how the craft fair went and drawings!
