OFF TO THE PRINTERS WITH YOU.

HELLO!
4AM was set off to the printers for this morning. It's finally happening!
A project 9 months in the making (and actually my final university project as well) is well and truly a labour of love. I'm really glad i've sen it through to the end after all the problems it hit along the way.

I've worked hard these last few days to get it ready for print (my least favourite bit) and sent it off yesterday or neat and tidy. A thing that was hard to visualise a few weeks ago!
It all sort of just ended. After working on something for so long and being so used to having a seemingly endless list of things to draw still, it was very odd when i realised last wednesday that i had drawn everything needed.
I'm picking it up from the printers on Thursday. Hopefully nothing goes wrong because i'm off to london and MCM EXPO on the friday with it!

Thanks so much for your support and reading x

Exhibitions and Stickers!

So these last few weeks i've been finishing off the last few things for my university degree. It's just the degree show now to go! Scary but i'm kind of looking forward to seeing what the next stage of life brings.
The show is next friday and we've been working to transform out studio space into a lovely clean white gallery space. It's looking pretty good!

Anyway it seems it's all been about displaying work lately. The show i mentioned previously at my favourite pub was a great night.

And then the next week i was in my local Waterstones, the Costa section, with my dad, putting up more work that's going to be up there for a month! So that's really exciting!

On another note, The Whatnot Tree goes to MCM EXPO in london on the 25th of May (so not this weekend, but next). We have a table in the trader's bit and in the artist's alley this time so that's going to be cool.
I was hoping to have my comic, 4AM, ready and printed in time for it. But it's become apparent recently that it's not going to be which is really disappointing, but i've always said i'm not going to rush it. It will hopefully be done in time for the middle of june now. It's hit so many problems and has taken so much longer than expected. But it is still on track and i can't wait to hold a finished copy in my hands. I've worked so hard on it, i've never attempted something this big.

HOWEVER i do have stickers. Barry and Terry! And they will be on the stand in the artist alley at MCM so that's something! But if you want them now you can! Here in my esty shop.

So yeah, all in all busy, very busy, but good mainly.
Here's a nice picture i took of a tree from one of the many times i've been in the park recently :)

Hectic November

It's been such a busy month! I had loads to do and it all pretty much fell on different days so it meant i could indeed do everything...which was good....but so tiring! I now refer to my sleeping bag as 'ham' because of how it looked when i tired it all up with wool in a tight roll!
Seems i spent a great deal of it travelling! London twice, bath, leeds....
Lots of conventions i was a part of too. I makes me laugh how many times i saw the same people at them! It was funny talking to people and being oh okay, so now we're in leeds....
A very fun month though, meet lots of brilliant people and got lots of cool stuff as well as getting to sell some of my own.
First up was MCM EXPO in london, my collective...The Whatnot Tree...went. SO. MANY.MY LITTLE PONIES.
Then i went to man my university's the Pittville Press stand at Comica's Comiket also in London the next weekend...
Then it was time for my personal favourite with The Whatnot Tree again, Thought Bubble in Leeds!

Our table there was really good, better than i had expected to get, we had so much space! As well as wall space for our prints, which usually get buried.

Thought bubble was really fun and i got to go to a lot of interesting talks and meet up with good friends as well.

Since last time, this is a sketchblog after all, i've done quite a bit of life drawings at these various events....
And of course the rest of my time has been going on uni projects!
Thanks for reading!

Casual Jazz, Pie and Classy Comics.

Hi Hi,

Just a casual blog post mainly about a few days in London with friends last week :) The theme, it was decided, was of casual Jazz and Pie and included pilgrimages. For me my pilgrimage was to the headquarters of the wondrous NoBrow in Hackney. I love what they do and own a lot of their stuff hehe. Basically it's all lovely printed short comic's and prints and stuff if you didn't know. The other main pilgrimage was a mad rampage then across london to find...pie. Not just any old pie, Pieminister Pie! We fell in love with it both years we were at the 2000 Trees Festival where they have a stand each year, so we wanted to find the actual shop. It was on the Southbank by the Thames and it was lovely :)
We then stayed on the Southbank, but down by the Eye for a few hours watching the street performers and i did some sketchs...

The casual Jazz i mentioned was due to the exhibition was went to on the first night, at the portrait gallery. It was open till 9PM for 'the late shift' and it was too cool for school with jazz and champagne. The exhibition was the BP Portrait Award 2011 and was absolutely brilliant! I really recommend it if your about the place! Crazy skills on display!

Anywho, here's my sketch before the lines and colour of my most recent drawing up on DeviantArt...
Ickle Alex and Terry. You can see it finished HERE!

...An update on my veg plot... OH MY GOD COURGETTES!!

and my favourite thumbnail from the story i've just finished doing the rough storyboard for...
But i have to go re-join the real world now... I'm earning real money these next three days (dear god), working the Tall Ships festival in Gloucester. Yay money. Hope the sun stays out!
See ya Folks!

Sketchs, a Cassowary, and a Lilly.

hi!
bit of a random mix today!
I have a few sketchs to upload from various trip i've gone on with friends recently to share.
I hope to upload some more craft stuff up soon and hopefully some more WIP shots as well. It feels like i'm sat on top of a giant to do list!

sooo...
Kensington Gardens, London.

Hyde Park, London.

You can see more of my sketchs from trips including Cardiff and the 2000 Trees Festival at the illustration blog i contribute too over at
sea-in-a-sieve. Along with some other awesome people's work :)

Well... and here's a peek at some late night, paint chucking around, animal pictures...

I'll be putting the finished things up in my gallery on Deviant shorttty :)

and finally, here's the beautiful lilly that i rescued from my mum's clutches as it headed with it's dead companions to the bin outside. It currently adds a touch of class to my desk....if only to be brought back down slightly by the fact it sits in an Appletiser bottle :p Classy :D

okays,
Thanks for reading :)
